Andrea Barbieri is a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Communication and Media Studies, University of Bern, where he contributes to the SNSF-funded project “Feeling left behind: how a lack of social recognition for one’s group influences political information usage and effects.”
He earned his PhD in 2025 from the University of Geneva with a dissertation examining how and when people change their opinions during direct democratic campaigns. During his doctoral studies, he was a visiting researcher for one semester at the University of California, Davis.
Andrea holds an M.A. in Political Science (Research Methods) from Central European University and an M.A. in International and Development Studies from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID). He completed his bachelor’s degree in Political Science at the University of Florence.
His research interests span the fields of political behavior and political communication.
